Total War: ROME II/ - Greek States Culture Pack

The Greek States Cultrue Pack DLC was developed by The Creative Assembly, published by SEGA and released on 3 September 2013.

About the Game

The Greek States Culture Pack adds a new playable Culture including three new playable Factions to Total War: ROME II; for use in Single or Multiplayer Campaign modes and Custom and Multiplayer Battles. Athens, Epirus and Sparta. each offer a unique new way to experience the campaign, with their own rosters of powerful military units, distinct traits and play styles.

The Athenian pursuit of enlightenment grants them technological and cultural bonuses; Sparta's dominance over the Helots allows them to maintain a larger slave population; and Epirus enjoys bonuses to settlement exploitation stemming from their village-confederation origins.

This DLC also included 8 new units (Mercenary Veteran Hoplites, Thureos Hoplites, Thorax Hoplites, Agrianian Axemen, Aspis Companion Cavalry, Heroes of Sparta, Polybolos Repeating Scorpion, Tortoise Armoured Battering Ram) and 3 new buildings (The Monument of Leonidas, Oracle of Dodona and Acropolis)

Skills and Experiences

This was a pretty small DLC, and worked as the pre-order bonus for Total War: ROME II, so was developed in parallel to that. It was later released for sale in its own right.

Some consumers complained about the business model here, and felt like any content developed along-side the main game should have been included in it, and not sold separately or used as a pre-order incentive. Sparta was especially popular due to the popularity of films The 300.
